Lessons at DW Tennis

Our 12 Week Tennis Lesson plan will be catered according to your level, and you will be able to experience improvements through these drills. Whether you are a beginner who is picking up a tennis racket for the very first time, or an intermediate player who has had a few years of experience, these lesson plans will be adapted to your style of play.

1. Introduction & Fundamentals 

Objective: Learn the basics of tennis, including rules, grips, stances, and basic strokes 

 

Lesson Activities: 

  • Introduction to tennis rules and equipment

  • Basic forehand and backhand techniques

  • Serve basics and mini-games

 

 

2. Forehand & Backhand Techniques 

Objective: Develop basic forehand and backhand strokes.

Activities:

  • Detailed mechanics for forehand and backhand

  • Drills to improve accuracy and consistency

​

3. Serve & Return of Serve 

Objective: Develop basic serving techniques and returns.

 

Activities:

  • Basic serves (flat serve)

  • Return of serve positioning and timing

4. Volleys & Overheads 

Objective: Introduction to net play with volleys and overhead shots.

 

Activities:

  • Forehand and backhand volleys

  • Basic overhead shots and related drills

5. Footwork & Movement

Objective: Enhance court coverage and movement efficiency.

 

Activities:

  • Basic and advanced footwork drills

  • Movement patterns and agility drills

 

 

6. Strategy & Tactics

Objective: Develop game strategy and tactical awareness.

 

Activities:

  • Singles and doubles strategies

  • Offensive and defensive tactic

7. Slices

Objective: Add variation to overall gameplay with slices

 

Activities:

  • Backhand slice drill 

  • Swing path for an optimal slice

8. Taking The Ball On The Rise

Objective: To not be pushed back the court by the opponent 

 

Activities:

  • Forehand and backhand drills with balls taken on the rise

  • Footwork - stepping up to the ball

​9. Advanced Techniques & Shots 

Objective: Learn advanced shots and techniques.

Activities:

  • Drop shots, lobs, and spins

  • Situational drills for advanced shots

 

 

10. Different Types of Serves

Objective: Vary the serves by learning Kick and Slice Serves

 

Activities:

  • Ball toss and contact point drills for Kick and Slice Serves

  • Serve Shot Selection on Deuce or Ad Side

11. Court Coverage 

Objective: Focusing on the right footwork for optimal court coverage

 

Activities:

  • Footwork drills from side to side; baseline to net

  • Open stance drills

12. Matchplay & Analysis

Objective: Review skills and put it into practice with a match

 

Activities:

  • Review of all techniques and strategies

  • Play under pressure in a friendly-competitive match
